New Work at the Stephen Daiter Gallery

Joseph Sterling: Untitled
Looking for some photographic inspiration during these gray dismal days leading up to Spring? Look no further than the Stephen Daiter Gallery which is running two concurrent shows through April 29, 2006.
The first is Joseph Sterling: The Age of Adolescence and Other Photographs. These 40 images explore "the sometimes tentative, sometimes explosive atmosphere that surrounded the rites of passage from childhood to adulthood during the years 1959-1964.” An accomplished documentary photographer, Sterling established the photography department at Columbia College and his work has appeared in Aperture Magazine and Time Life’s “This Fabulous Century.”
The second is selections from The David C. and Sarajean Ruttenberg Collection featuring the work of such photographic giants as Harry Callahan, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Louis Faurer, Annie Liebovitz, Irving Penn, Jerry Uelsmann, Weegee, William Wegman and Garry Winogrand.
The Stephen Daiter Gallery is located at 311 W. Superior, Suites 404 & 408, Chicago, and open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 6.
