Sunday Meetup in Roscoe Village

photobloggers-do-photo-boot.jpg

The Chicago Photobloggers had their July meetup on a hot, sunny Sunday in Roscoe Village. Meeting up at Mojoe's Cafe for liquid fortification were (in no particular order) Nick, Ron, Archie, Rod, DrJoanne, Tai, our special guest from NYC, Ken, yours truly and his family (Pat and Chris the Holgaboy).

After briefly terrorizing the neighborhood with our cameras, we settled down for a late lunch at the Village Tap. As you can see from the above photo, you can uncomfortably cram four people into their photo booth without serious injury.

Ken already has posted a Flickr set from our encounter. Check it out here.

Our next meetup is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 20 at the Air and Water Show in the north lakefront. Details to follow.

An American Boy In Paris

Our very own Fromage Feroce (Ferocious Cheese, for you non-French speakers), Nick Feder, has been chronicling his adventures this summer in the City of Lights. Check out his entries here.

your last favorite

ok, so many of us use flickr, right? One feature is to mark an image as a favorite so you can come back to it later.

Post the last image on flickr you made a favorite.

Your Day Job

I don't know what everyone does for a living, but if your team communicates by email - here's a great solution. I think. I just signed up and am experimenting with http://www.Basecamphq.com.

I'm trying to coordinate a very intense video shoot the middle of next week, and this may look like a great solution. If it works well, i probably will add it to my toolbelt.

Photoblog Randomizer

blindfold.jpg
I know this has been out for a while now, but i think its still worth mentioning. The Photoblog Randomizer has been one of the coolest things for me to see lately. I load all my favorite sites in Safari using tabbed browsing, and i just dragged the link to the randomizer as one of my tabs. I've discovered plenty of cool sites, mostly in Polish, but its been a great resource to see different people i would never have been able to see.

The Photoblog Randomizer
Go through it real quick, give it 5 minutes. Then post up here your favorite Photoblog.

We're back...and better than ever

relaunch.jpg

Welcome to the new and improved Chicago Photobloggers website, serving the greater metropolitan Chicago area including southern Wisconsin and northwestern Indiana. Our crack team has been hard at work designing and implementing the new site over the past month or so using the Movable Type content management system. Among the new features are an events calendar, a meetup/shootout calendar and a gallery that links directly from our Chicago Photobloggers photo pool on Flickr.

Special thanks go to two members of the team whose incredibly hard work and talent made this all possible: Pablo Korona, who came up the sleek redesign and graphics, and our webmaster, Rod Gedey who ran with Pablo's design and used his amazing Movable Type and CSS coding talents to make it all happen. Many thanks to you both. To paraphrase King Faisal in Lawrence of Arabia, what we owe both of you is beyond estimation.

Now it's your turn to help. This site is only good as its content. We're looking for articles, posts and links that deal with photography and photoblogging in general and Chicago metro area photoblogging in particular. Got any tips or tricks to share? Perhaps it's a current photo exhibition that's coming up. Or you know of a great place that you think our next meetup/shootout should be. Maybe you want to feature a particular metro Chicago photoblogger whose work you admire. To become a contributor to these virtual pages, give us a holler at chicagophotoblogs@gmail.com. We'll set you up with a user id and password in order to be able to post to the site.

For those of you who have contributed in the past, you will need to contact us so we can give you an new user id and password to start. And if you're new to these pages and have a metro Chicago area photoblog that you want listed on our blogroll, let us know and we'll get it up there right away.
